The foundation of Moonlight Auto Co. is built on a shared dream and a perfect blend of complementary skills. It's a story of hands-on passion meeting professional dedication.
The journey began with Brad Wright, whose mechanical aptitude for engines and vehicles was evident from a young age, starting with him creating his first motorized Radio Flyer wagon at nine. As a young boy and teenager, Brad was actively working on engines and other mechanical projects. Around the age of twelve, his experience broadened significantly when he began assisting on local farms in small-town Iowa. He was quickly immersed in the true spirit of the farming community. An older woman farmer, in particular, took him in and became a powerful mentor, teaching him valuable life skills that shaped his character.
Brad earned immense respect from these farmers, who helped cultivate his quiet, respectful personality and strong work ethic. This foundation of practical problem-solving and deep respect carried over into his professional life, where he mastered the inner workings of engines in a machine shop and later excelled as a diesel mechanic. Brad always dreamed of owning his own shop and had already begun working on vehicles on the side, earning the name "Moonlight."
The business found its true professional footing when Brad partnered with Lesley Wright. Lesley brings a vital dimension to the company, holding an Associate in Applied Science in Automotive Technology, along with a background in Business Administration studies and Human Resources. She utilizes this technical background to manage business operations, scan tool diagnostics, wiring schematics, and ethical estimating, while also overseeing the company's financial and creative direction. This unique combination—Brad's full-automobile mechanical mastery and relentless hard work, merged with Lesley's technical expertise, business management, and creative vision allowed them to build the company from the ground up into the trusted service provider it is today.
A Return to Our Roots
Our connection to this community runs deeper than just business. Although we currently reside in the countryside of Iowa, both of us were born right here in Nebraska City. Establishing our shop location here was a deliberate return to our roots, allowing us to bring our skills home to serve the community where our stories began.
Our commitment extends beyond the garage. We are a family, blessed with seven children, built on the principle that every customer is treated with the same honesty and care we value at home.
